Its analysis shows 56 universities are anticipating a drop in the number of full-time undergraduates they take from the UK or the European Union next year. On average, universities expect a 2% fall, but one institution predicts a 20% drop and five others foresee decreases of more than 10%. Not only this, but by completing an internship, my dedication to a career in marketing has been proven and has significantly improved my chances of graduate employment in a strained economic climate. | What does your internship involve? | The development and maintenance of a customer database, comprising over 400 retailers and hospitality providers, via in-depth market research. Selling company products to small retail chains and managing ongoing customer relationships. Assisting in the rebranding of the company and redesigning the website. | Your favourite part of your internship? | Having the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some very interesting and knowledgeable individuals. | Any advice for future interns? | Don't take the first internship offered to you if it is not what you are looking for. Yes, you need experience, but you need relevant experience to the career you are striving for. Fortunately, one start-up company in London is helping buck this trend. Inspiring Interns are celebrating creating 1000 graduate internships since being founded in January 2009, with over 600 of these leading to new, permanent graduate jobs.
