Company Details - Ventana is a privately-held, next-generation cleantech startup based near Chandigarh which is working on a path-breaking innovation for conversion of plastic wastes into petroleum fuels. The company's Hydrocarbon CatcrackerTM technology deploys it's proprietary HyCatalystTM to depolymerize plastic feedstock into lighter hydrocarbon fuels which approximate naptha and can be blended to obtain diesel, gasoline & industrial fuel oils. The technology uses a patent-pending process to convert various kinds of plastic wastes into light fuel oils. It offers a disruptive and cost-effective solution to manage global challenges related to recycling of mixed plastic wastes and converts landfill-bound polymer waste into economically resourceful lighter petroleum fuels having widespread use. The company has established a pilot based on the technology and is presently up scaling rapidly with commercial rollout slated in 2nd half of 2012. The technology aims to serve an immensely large global market seeking a technological solution to solve the challenge of recycling mixed waste plastics. For more information on the company & technology, visit www.ventanacleantech.com Internship Description - Depending on the duration of internship, the intern shall be involved in a one or two specific well defined sub-projects related to : (i) Characterization of output streams (liquid fuels, LPG gas) using Gas Chromatograph & analytical laboratory instruments related to petroleum products. (ii) Design & performance of trials on pilot plant, data analysis, trending & logging. (iii) Optimization of HyCatCrackerTM process & equipment. (iv) Performance of research on niche subject areas related the HyCatCrackerTM technology – preparation & presentation of the same to the management Duration - Minimum 2 months Qualification/Aptitude Required - Qualification : B.Tech / M.Tech / B.Sc. / M. Sc. Chemistry Aptitude : (i) Highly developed critical reasoning. (ii) Past excellence in academics. (iii) A passion for use of green chemistry to solve leading ecological problems (iv) Startup friendly — an ability to work in small teams & nascent, evolving setups. Stipend – 5,000 -8,000 pm. Accommodation on a shared basis shall be provided by the company near the workplace. The intern shall be responsible to make own arrangement for food & commuting to/from work.
